Sherwood Pottery

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2026

Sherwood Pottery is a small family pottery. We collect as little about you as we can, and we do not sell or trade it. This policy explains what we hold and what you can ask us to do with it. It follows the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect, and why

  • When you order — your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, what you bought and what you paid. We need it to take the payment, pack the right pieces and get them to you.
  • When you subscribe — your email address only, so we can tell you about new work and the markets we will be at.

You do not need an account to buy from us, and we do not ask for anything beyond the above. What is in your cart is kept in your own browser until you check out — it is never sent to us.

Your card details

Payment is handled on Stripe's own checkout page. Your card number never reaches this website and we never see or store it. Stripe holds the payment record under its own privacy policy.

Who else handles your information

Only the services that make the shop work, and only for that purpose:

  • Stripe — takes the payment and holds the transaction record.
  • Google — your order details are written to a private spreadsheet we use to fulfil orders, and an email is sent to us to say an order has come in.
  • Cloudflare — hosts this website and serves its pages.

Some of these store data outside New Zealand. We only use providers that are required to protect your information to a comparable standard. We do not sell your information or pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

Tracking

We do not run advertising trackers or analytics that profile you, and this site sets no advertising cookies. Stripe may set cookies of its own on its checkout page to prevent fraud.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept while we may need them — for warranty questions, and for the seven years tax records must be held. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any email we send.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct anything wrong. Ask and we will tell you. There is no charge, and we will come back to you within 20 working days.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz .

Keeping it safe

Order records sit in a private spreadsheet only the two of us can open, and the site is served over an encrypted connection. No system is perfect, but we keep the number of places your details live as small as we can.

Asking us anything

Write to contact@sherwoodpottery.com with any request about your information — access, correction, or a complaint — and we will come back to you within 20 working days. You are welcome to raise it with us at a market instead, but email is the surest way to reach us.
